CoolLed on Win7 64bit

Serge Pelet
Hello,
We have a set-up with two CoolLed devices controlled by micro-manager. They are connected via the USB interface, for instance to set the power of the LED. However we use an Arduino Uno board to trigger them with improved temporal precision. We send the same triggering signal to both devices, and we select which LED is switched on by setting via USB the Trigger state of each devices to Off or BothEdges when the illumination settings are applied. This set-up works fine on Windows XP-32 bit.
We are trying to upgrade our system to Windows 7 64 bit and we encounter some issues with this set-up. The CoolLed devices does not seem to respond properly to the USB cues or responds very slowly. I have a channel group (Test) which selects (among other things) the active Arduino pin and sets the Trigger state of both led devices. This change in trigger state does not occur properly because when I switch between two channel settings, activating different LED devices, I often get both devices sending light out (meaning that one of the device did not switch its trigger status to off). As shown in the corelog file pasted below, there is a timeout error from one of the two LED device (COM4). If I go in the Device property manager and switch manually the state of the trigger for that LED device to Off then only the other LED is active as expected.

My feeling is that the drivers for the LED are not working properly in windows 7 especially when two CoolLed units are combined. Are there any known issue with this driver on Win7? Are there any special settings for the COM port that I should use?
Thanks for your help.
Serge

Have you disabled all the power saving settings in Windows 7 in
including the USB settings?

If it's your Windows 7 machine is on a different computer than your XP
machine you may need to do the same in your BIOS.
