Leica DIM6000B - Switching from oil to air objective?

Ivan Caceres
The way my scope is setup is that it starts default on one of our oil objectives. I can switch between oil objectives just fine, but when I try and switch to an air objective from an oil I get no response. I know that this is part of a safety feature as far as when switching from air to oil, but is there a way to confirm through a micro manager command that you want this switch to occur?

Cheers!

Ivan

It is a long time ago that I wrote the LeicaDMI adapter.  I do remember those awful "methods" that are imposed by the microscope firmware.  Our software first has to set a correct "method" before certain components can be moved into place.  I have worked hard to defeat this (stupid!) mechanism.  I do see code in the objective switching part that tries to switch the method to one compatible with the objective, so I would hope this works when you give the command to switch objectives from Micro-Manager.

Are you saying this is not the case?  If so, please generate a Trouble Report (under the Help menu).  I can't promise that I can fix it without having access to a microscope, but I'll look at the output and see if there is a simple fix.

Best,

Nico
