Leica with a joystick

Tim Feinstein
Hi folks,

Has anyone successfully controlled a Leica motorized stage (Scan Stage on a DMI6000) using a joystick?  It would have to be a joystick with another knob for focus. Leica does not enable joysticks with their proprietary software but I thought that Micro-Manager should make it possible.

Thanks!

Hi Tim,

I have a plugin for that, but it is ugly and cannot be used with recent MM version. Anyway I will rewrite it recently, so could you suggestions and requirements?

Best,
Sergey

Hi Sergey,

I think a plugin would need to move the stage, allow for Z control and provide a way to toggle XY/Z movement speed. If yours can do that, I would be happy to try it with an older version of MM.

Thanks and all the best,

Tim

Re: Leica with a joystick

Are configurable buttons needed? Should it adapt to current configuration or using predefined in config one only is enough?
When I wrote initial plugin I'd asked my colleagues of its abilities. They told to reproduce all the things I use myself in a comfortable for me way. As a result I got bawled out :) I'd better ask some more questions than repeat the mistake.

Best,
Sergey
