Prior XY Stage control issue

Peter Braubach
Dear all,

currently I am building a microscope system on an Olympus BX61 basis equipped with a Prior XY Stage connected through a Proscan II controller.
After some intermediate troubles everything gets recognized by Micro-Manager, however the Stage behaves funny sometimes.

When moving with the stage controller the stage sometimes drives to a maximum position (+ or - on either x or y axis). I cannot fully replicate the conditions that trigger this behaviour. Sometimes it seems that repetitive commands seem to induce it (even if they are spaced several seconds apart).

The second issue is larger jumps or back-and-forth jumps during what should be short (e.g. 0.1 field) movements. They also happen between normal expected 0.1 field hops.

These issues seem to appear less frequently in Micro-Manager 1.4 (nightly) than in 2.0 beta.
I tried different RS323 Adapters (USB to RS323 with prolific chipset, currently: PCI to RS323 adapter), and in both the stage exhibited the same problematic movement.

Does anyone have ideas how to solve or further diagnose this problem?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Peter

Re: Prior XY Stage control issue

Peter Braubach
Dear all,

To follow up on my email. I resolved this problem by switching to a new prior controller. So, the issue was likely a hardware fault and unrelated to micro-manager.

Kind regards
Peter
