Qimaging Camera with optional RGB filter

asheenlevrai
Hello all,

I have a Qimaging Retiga EXi (fast1394) monochrome camera coupled to MicroColor RGB filter via a cable.
(check the filter here: http://www.qimaging.com/products/rgbfilters/cri.php)

I'm using MM in MacOSX 10.5.8 (leopard).

The RGB filter is mounted between the scope and the cam. It can be inactivated by pulling a metalic stick, in order to benefit from the greater sensitivity in monochrome mode.

In MM, I added the Qcamera device adapter into the configuration. Despite the presence of the RGB filter, the captures images are monochrome. I suppose I should add the RGB filter to the configuration in order for the camer to be able to use it in MM.
Does anyone know if this is necessary/possible?

Thank you very much in advance for your help.

Re: Qimaging Camera with optional RGB filter

Hoover, Karl
Hi Asheen,

The current incarnation of the µManager QImaging device adapter does not handle RGB images. Adding this looks reasonably straightforward, but outside our current work plans here at UCSF. Please inquire to the QImaging folks if they could take on such a project.

Best Regards,
Karl Hoover

Well, Do you really think they would consider this option?  ...since (like all manufacturers) they provide their own software...

Absolutely!  Almost all camera companies put resources into writing Micro-Manager adapters, and QImaging was actually the very first to do so.  Since volumes are much lower than in consumer electronics markets, these companies will very often respond to requests of a very few or sometimes even one customer.

Best,

Nico

RE: Qimaging Camera with optional RGB filter

karinag
Hi there,

I'm just wondering if you ever heard back from QImaging about this? I'm trying to deal with a similar problem...

Thanks!
