Re: Leica DMIRE2 with uManager

Dear Ioannis,

Our hardware configuration is (see configuration file attached) and works quite well:
Device,Vincent-D1,Vincent,Vincent-D1
Device,Scope,LeicaDMI,Scope
Device,IL-Turret,LeicaDMI,IL-Turret
Device,ObjectiveTurret,LeicaDMI,ObjectiveTurret
Device,FocusDrive,LeicaDMI,FocusDrive
Device,IL-Shutter,LeicaDMI,IL-Shutter
Device,Transmitted Light,LeicaDMI,Transmitted Light
Device,HamamatsuHam_DCAM,HamamatsuHam,HamamatsuHam_DCAM
Device,LudlController,Ludl,LudlController
Device,XYStage-1,Ludl,XYStage
Device,PrecisExciteTCP,PrecisExciteTCP,PrecisExciteTCP
Our version of micromanager1.4 is pretty old (2013).

We did have occasionally a crashes due to the stage (Ludl), but restarting the computer before each use and switching ON the stage and all components before starting micromanager seems to avoid that problem. We were able to run this configuration in continuous time-lapse for weeks without crashes.
Hope this helps,
Nathalie

Dear Nathalie,
I just saw a reply of yours, that you have connected a Leica DMIRE2 microscope with a Windows 7 64bit computer controlling it with MicroManager.
I am trying to do the exact same thing. Having the microscope and the xy stage controller (MCX-2 from ITK) connected via RS232 ports with the PC, I am trying to establish a communication with the uManger. However, my efforts so far were not very successful. Either I cannot control all the part of the scope (i.e. IL Shutter, Objectives Turret etc) or for some reason uManager crashes....
Could you share a few information more about the setup you are using? For example which version of uManager are you using? What kind of automatic xy stage your microscope has? Are you able to control everything within the uManager or not?

Thank you in advance for your kind reply.
Best regards
Ioannis

Dear Nathalie,
Thanks a lot for your feedback.
I will try to use an older version of uManager and check any communication problems through the COM ports I am using.
Kind regards
Ioannis
