SOLVED: ThorlabsAPTStage 64bit issues

I was having issues with running a Thorlabs DRV001 connected via a Thorlabs BSC201 controller on a 64bit OpenSPIM setup.

These issues have now been resolved by doing the following with great help from Jerome Boulanger, MRC LMB, Cambridge, UK:

1. Downloading the micro-manager source code as instructed here (
2. Installing all the relevant programs for building micro-manager as instructed here (
5. Downloading and unzipping the APTx64 form here (
6. Then building the ThorlabsAPTStage Device Adapter in 64bit on a 64bit Windows 7 machine, using the 'APT.lib' downloaded in point 5.
7. The resulting .dll file was renamed to 'mmgr_dal_ThorlabAPTStage.dll' then placed into the folder along with the 'APT.dll' downloaded in point 5.
8. The OpenSPIM Fiji/MM bundle was then restarted and a ThorlabAPTStage could be configured as described for a 32bit system here (

If you want to try this 64bit ThorlabsAPTStage Device Adapter then download the .zip file here ( and unzip into the OpenSPIM or Micro-Manager main folder.
