Setting up MM build environment on Windows 10

Siemons, M.E. (Marijn)

Hi everyone!

Is the tutorial on setting up the build environment for MM still up to date for Windows 10?

I had quite a hard time getting the build environment to work on W7, but now I need to upgrade to W10 and want to make sure that I can still develop.

Many thanks in advance!

Met vriendelijke groet, with kind regards,

For device adapters see this thread about using Visual Studio 2015:
http://micro-manager.3463995.n2.nabble.com/Building-Device-Adapters-on-Windows-10-with-Visual-Studio-2015-Community-tp7587098.html.

I think the Java parts will be pretty much the same.  I have generally had
good experience trying to use the latest versions of tools (e.g. Eclipse)
and adapting the old instructions.

It is beneficial to the community for you to share your experiences and tip
either on the mailing list or by editing the wiki directly.

Hi Marijn,

I have successfully compiled MM in Windows Server 2016; I believe this should be practically equivalent to compiling in Windows 10. I have used Visual Studio 2010, 2015 and 2017. VS 2017 was by far the easiest to set up.

Cheers,
Kyle
