Hello folks,
We are using two Qimaging cameras (2000R and 2000RV) on the same microscope (mounted on left and right side-ports). One is imaging the back focal plane and the other the specimen plane. We are taking images sequentially (first on right and then on left port). The problem is that Qcam adapter recognizes only one camera - if both cameras are on, it recognizes the camera that was first connected with computer. If I insert second instance of Qcam adapter in hardware configuration, it recognizes the same camera as the first instance. So currently, I manually switch one camera on and off when switching the ports. When I run Qcapture, it is possible to select one of the two cameras at startup. Is it possible to tie instances of Qcam adapter to a particular camera? Or can authors of the Qcam adapter enable camera selection via a property? Yes, it would be good to tie the instance of the QCam adapter to the name of a camera and allow operation of multiple cameras. The PVCAM, Hamamatsu, and Andor adapters all allow operation of multiple cameras. Cameras can even be operated simultaneously using the Utilities->Multi-Camera adapter (we now do routinely so using two Andor iXons). However, the QCam adapter is one of the oldest in our repository and there is currently nobody working on it. You may try to get Grant Harris interested in the project, it probably is not going to be extremely difficult. I have noticed in the latest version of MicroManager (1.4.8) that the live image histogram (main MicroManager window) auto stretch checkbox is missing. Can this be restored in the next version?

Hi John,
> I have noticed in the latest version of MicroManager (1.4.8) that the live image histogram (main MicroManager window) auto stretch checkbox is missing. Can this be restored in the next version? In my copy it is right there where it always was. I also do not remember that it was ever missing. However, when you use a color camera, or multiple cameras (using the Utilities->MultiCamera adapter), then there will be an autostretch checkbox on top of the multiple histograms, rather than one on the left. If you still can not find it, can you update to the latest nightly build and let us know if the issue persists? Hmmm, I tried upgrading to the nightly build today and it was still missing. I went back to version 1.4.5 and the checkbox reappears. I'm running Windows 7 on a 64 bit machine.

Could it simply be that you need to expand the window a bit (in its smallest size, the window just hides the Auto-stretch checkbox)? Otherwise, please send us a screenshot of the main Micro-Manager window. If it is too big for the list, please send to info at micro-manager.org. Ah ha, you were right Nico, the main window needed to be resized. I didn't know this window could be resized as there was no visual cue at the window corners. After resizing it once, it opens with the same size on startup. Thanks for your help!

Hi,
I'm fortunate enough to get my hands on a new Andor sCMOS camera (NEO). I'm having trouble getting the camera to work with MicroManager however (latest nightly build). I had a look through the list server archives and saw that there were other similar reports a few months ago. I also tried a nightly build of version 1.4.6 which someone previously had said worked for them. So what's the latest on this? Is the SDK3 still required? Are there certain files that need to be moved over to the MicroManager folder. We also have an Andor iXon3 EMCCD camera for testing. I had no problem getting that camera to work. Both cameras can produce images using the native Andor Solis software. I've copied and pasted my core log below Thank you for any help! Hi John,
> I'm fortunate enough to get my hands on a new Andor sCMOS camera (NEO). Andor is transitioning to a new SDK and the sCMOS camera only works with the new SDK (SDK3). Consequently, there is new Andor deviceadapter (AndorSDK3) that you should use with the sCMOS camera. It should be included with the Micro-Manager distribution. From your logs, it looks like you only tried the "Andor" (not the AndorSDK3") adapter. If you can not find it, or if it does not work, let us know. I have installed the latest SDK (version 3.3.30003.0) on my computer, but I don't see the AndorSDK3 adapter in the device configuration wizard (in either the 32-bit or the 64-bit version of MicroManager nightly builds). I just see the normal Andor (generic camera driver) and the Andor laser combiner options.

Okay, so just an update, I went back to version 1.4.7 (32-bit) and I can now see the Andor3 adapter in the configuration wizard. When I add the NEO camera, however, I get an error about a missing or corrupted file. I've attached my new core log.

Hi John,
> I have installed the latest SDK (version 3.3.30003.0) on my computer, but I don't see the AndorSDK3 adapter in the device configuration wizard (in either the 32-bit or the 64-bit version of MicroManager nightly builds). I just see the normal Andor (generic camera driver) and the Andor laser combiner options. Could you please copy the dlls from that SDK into the Micro-Manager directory? I would expect that you can then see the Andor3 in the Hardware Configuration Wizard. Please try this with the latest nightly build. Okay, will try that in the morning!

Nico,
I tried moving .dll files over from the SDK3 folder into the nightly build (1.4.8) MicroManager folder - 32 and 64 bit versions. I also copied over files from the SDK3 win32 folder into the same directory. I was careful not to overwrite any MicroManager files with the same file name. In the 64-bit version, I could still not see the Andor3 folder in the configuration wizard. In the 32-bit version, The Andor3 folder now appeared, but when adding the NEO camera, I received an error message saying something about an win32 file not being accessible. Let me know if you want me to send a corelog demonstrating the problem. Encouraged by this, I then went tried the same thing with version 1.4.7 of MicroManager (32-bit version only), and it worked. The Andor3 folder appeared and I was able to run the camera with no errors. Not sure if I can push the camera to its maximum full frame rate though. There were reports of people getting this to work in 64-bit versions of MicroManager on the email listserver archive I think. Perhaps I should repeat the process with the 64-bit version of 1.4.7? Just out of curiosity, is it possible to run two cameras using the multi-camera adapter when the cameras have two different chip sizes?

The PVCAM, Hamamatsu, and Andor adapters all allow operation of multiple cameras. Cameras can even be operated simultaneously using the Utilities->Multi-Camera adapter (we now do routinely so using two Andor iXons). However, the QCam adapter is one of the oldest in our repository and there is currently nobody working on it. You may try to get Grant Harris interested in the project, it probably is not going to be extremely difficult. > > Best, > > Nico > > > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ > Ridiculously easy VDI. MMDeviceList.txt is missing the line for the Andor Neo.
So I copied just this line from the 32-bit version of this file from the 1.4.7 installation to the 64-bit (middle line): ... Andor,Andor,Generic Andor Camera Adapter,2 Andor3,Neo,Andor sCMOS camera,1 AndorLaserCombiner,AndorLaserCombiner,AndorLaserCombiner,3 ... Works for me now. --Pariksheet ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ RSA(R) Conference 2012 Mar 27 - Feb 2 Save $400 by Jan. 27 Register now! http://p.sf.net/sfu/rsa-sfdev2dev2 _______________________________________________ micro-manager-general mailing list [hidden email] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/micro-manager-general |

Thanks Pariksheet, that fix worked for me too and I now have the camera working in the 64-bit version of MicroManager (nightly build). No need to add any SDK3 files either.

Hi John and Pariksheet,

Just to get it clear, if that line is not in the MMDeviceList.txt, the Andor3 does not appear anywhere in the list? Not even on the bottom of the list (regretfully, devices in MMDeviceList.txt are listed first followed by device adapters discovered on your system)? Yes, that is correct. Not even at the bottom of the list.
