configuration file problem

孟军

Hi everyone,

I just installed the newest version of MM(1.4.7) to our compter with Windows XP 32 OS.

After I completed the configuration file a message pops up:

     error uploading configuration file:
     java.net.UnknownHostException:vaelab.ucsf.edu

But  it seems that my system work well. Do you have any idea about this?

I was wondering  if it has any influence on its long-term usage.

     Thanks.

     Best!

Jun

Looks like a typo. It should be valelab.ucsf.edu

They must now be uploading all configuration files...

Dear Karl and others,

Looks like a typo. It should be valelab.ucsf.edu

They must now be uploading all configuration files...

Starting with Micro-Manager 1.4, the last page of the Hardware Configuration Wizard contains a checkbox labeled:
"Send configuration to Micro-manager.org"
and below that the text:
"Providing the configuration data will assist securing further project funding."

If you do not like to share your configuration file, uncheck the box.  We do think that it is important to collect these data to show funding agencies how widely the program is used.  We will not share these data in any way that would expose the identity (IP address) of the original computer).

I assume that the typo was introduced by the original poster copying the message (which should not have been shown by Micro-Manager as it is irrelevant to the user) into his email client.

B.t.w., in case anyone is curious, in the about 9 months since the 1.4 release, we have received configuration files form 1769 computers.  1093 of these used real equipment (i.e. the configuration contained devices other than demo devices).  We currently see about 125 new entries of systems using real hardware per month.

Best,

Nico

No, it does not.  You can safely ignore this message.
