updating java for ImageJ within MM

Tobias Baskin
Greetings,
I am running micromanager 1.4.22  (core  8.1.0) on Mac OX 10.14.5 "Mojave". The imageJ opened by MM is 1.52p, which is the latest one supplied by imageJ updater. However, it is using Java 1.6.0_65. Is there a way to upgrade the java used by Micromanager's imageJ to 1.8? I am using an MM plug-in that (apparently) needs Java 1.8. I note that there is an ImageJ download that is bundled with Java 1.8 but I don't know how to get that 'inside' MM.

Many thanks for any help here.

    Tobias

Hi Tobias,

I believe that you can replace the jre directory within the Micro-manager applications directory with the jre of your choice.  If that does not work see the ImageJ instructions on how to change the Java version here:

https://imagej.net/Frequently_Asked_Questions#How_do_I_launch_ImageJ_with_a_different_version_of_Java.3F

Best,

Nico

Not likely.  Did you try these instructions:

https://imagej.net/Frequently_Asked_Questions#How_do_I_launch_ImageJ_with_a_different_version_of_Java.3F

You could also try to replace the Info.plist file of MM 1.4 with the one
from MM2.0-gamma (make backups before deleting anything).  Right click
on the ImageJ.app icon, select Show Contents, open the Contents folder
to find Info.plist.

Or ask whomever compiled your plugin to compile it for Java 6.

Best,

Nico
